David Brailer, MD, PhD is Executive Vice President, Chief Health Officer and Chief Transformation Officer of The Cigna GroupSM. As Chief Health Officer, he has oversight over all clinical and health functions and the company’s health products, technologies and services. As Chief Transformation Officer, he has oversight over the transformation of the company and its products and services into the future through the Office of Excellence and Transformation. Brailer leads the company’s 20,000 clinicians and health professionals as they support the 190 million people the company serves. He is a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team of The Cigna Group. Brailer is a physician recognized for his pioneering leadership in health care, particularly in the use of technology to enhance care. Over the past three decades, Brailer has built a variety of private and public sector organizations that improve access to and quality of health care. Prior to joining Cigna in 2022, in 2011, Brailer founded Health Evolution, an organization that convenes health care leaders as they navigate rapidly changing forces in the industry. Brailer serves as Chairman of Health Evolution. In 2002, Brailer was appointed by President George W. Bush as a health policy advisor and later became the nation’s first National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. In this role, Brailer oversaw development of the nation's strategy for electronic records, information sharing, and consumer empowerment. His efforts set the foundation for the rapid adoption of digital health technologies that is underway today and that contribute to better outcomes for individuals. In 1996, Brailer founded and was CEO of CareScience, a health care information management company. Under his leadership, CareScience developed one of the nation’s earliest health care cloud solutions, serving more than 25 million patients in 500 major health care systems, health plans, and physician groups across the United States. Brailer holds doctoral degrees in medicine and economics. He earned his M.D. from West Virginia University and his Ph.D. in economics from The Wharton School. He became board certified in internal medicine after internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he practiced infectious diseases and HIV medicine. Brailer was appointed a Charles A. Dana Fellow and a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Brailer taught for a decade at The Wharton School, where he founded the Wharton School health information technology program. Brailer is Vice Chairman of the Duke Margolis Health Policy Center and has served on the boards of directors of or as advisor to numerous health care companies, including Walgreens Boots Alliance, VillageMD, Censeo Health, and Prolacta Biosciences®.

Brent Davis is Executive Vice President, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for AdventHealth’s Primary Health Division. In this role, Davis oversees the strategic and operational direction for this new division which is focused on orchestrating high-value, longitudinal and whole-person primary health care that enhances wellness and preventative care across multiple payor structures and meets the diverse primary care needs of our patient population. The division includes traditional, urgent care and retail-focused primary care models, as well as full risk senior primary health, urgent care, population health services and home and hospice care. Before becoming CEO, Davis served in a dual role as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Operational Officer (COO) for the Primary Health Division. He also held the position of regional CFO for the AdventHealth facilities in Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties. His extensive experience also includes roles such as CFO at Kettering Medical Center System in Ohio, as well as at St. Anthony North Hospital and AdventHealth Avista, both in Colorado. Davis began his career in public accounting with Ernst & Young. Davis holds a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in information technology from California Lutheran University and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Walla Walla University. He also is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Together with his wife Angela, Davis has two children, Lincoln (8) and Everly (7). In his spare time, he enjoys water sports, beach days and other opportunities to be outdoors.

With 25 years of experience in the business and policy of health care, Sarah Emond leads the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review, a leading non-profit health policy research organization, as President and Chief Executive Officer. She joined ICER in 2009 as its first Chief Operating Officer and third employee, and has worked to grow the organization’s approach, scope, and impact over the years. Prior to joining ICER, Emond spent time as a communications consultant, with six years in the corporate communications and investor relations department at a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company, and several years with a health care communications firm. Emond began her health care career in clinical research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. A graduate of the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, Emond holds a Master of Public Policy degree with a concentration in health policy. Emond also received a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Smith College. Emond speaks frequently at national conferences on the topics of prescription drug pricing policy, comparative effectiveness research, and value-based health care.

Martin Graf, PhD, a former rocket scientist, has a background in aeronautics and mechanical engineering. That training and experience made him an expert problem solver, and taught him how to communicate complex ideas to a broad audience - skills he uses every day as a Partner in Oliver Wyman's Health and Life Sciences (HLS) practice. Today, Graf works with health insurers and providers to improve their strategy and operations. He has 20 years of executive-level leadership and management consulting experience in healthcare and has worked with many of the largest players in the industry. He’s directly improved their businesses, and he focuses on driving major transformations. Whether he’s designing rockets or creating a new health plan for a leading health system, Graf enjoys the challenges that come with tackling some of our country’s most complex problems. At Oliver Wyman, Graf is a member of the HLS management committee and co-leads the Government Healthcare platform. He is also the co-author of a graduate textbook on turbomachinery aerodynamics.

Sachin (pronounced SUCH-in) H. Jain, MD, MBA is CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, which serves more than 300,000 members across California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico. Previously, Jain was President and CEO of CareMore and Aspire Health, which served 200,000 Medicare and Medicaid patients in 32 states. He also served as Chief Medical Information & Innovation Officer at Merck & Co., was Senior Advisor to the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and was the first Deputy Director for policy and programs at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI). Jain graduated from Harvard College and earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and MBA from Harvard Business School. He is Adjunct Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine and is a member of the boards of America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), Omada Health, Advantage Healthcare Services, The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, and the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.

Ellen is President and CEO of Business Group on Health. She is a sought-after speaker and expert on health and well-being issues. Kelsay hosts the Business Group on Health podcast and has authored various industry publications appearing in Harvard Business Review, Modern Healthcare, Pharmaceutical Executive and Employee Benefit News, among others. She frequently contributes on an array of critical topics such as health care affordability, prescription drug pricing, transparency, well-being, mental health, health inclusion and innovation across the U.S. and globally. She has been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare. She has delivered Congressional testimony and is frequently cited in the press. Additionally, she is a Health Evolution Senior Fellow, a member of Women Business Leaders in Healthcare, Oliver Wyman’s Health Leaders Alliance and the Aspen Group. Kelsay has a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and business administration from the University of Richmond and is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Steve Mackin is President and CEO of Mercy, one of the 20 largest U.S. health systems and one of the nation’s highest performing Accountable Care Organizations for quality and cost. The highly integrated, multi-state system serves millions of patients annually with more than 50 acute care and specialty hospitals, convenient and urgent care locations, imaging centers and pharmacies, 900 physician practices and outpatient facilities, 4,500 physicians and advanced practitioners and 50,000 co-workers across Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Mackin joined Mercy in 2017 as senior executive for business line development, with an initial focus on cancer services. He later served in executive roles, including president of Mercy Hospital St. Louis, Mercy’s largest hospital and a Level 1 trauma center. Prior to joining Mercy, Mackin spent nearly two decades with Cancer Treatment Centers of America, a national health care network that serves adult cancer patients. During his tenure, he progressed from a management fellow to executive positions, including chief operating officer and interim president of the organization. In support of community health and enrichment, Mackin serves on the boards of the Heartland Whole Health Institute, the American Hospital Association’s Committee on Strategy and Innovation, the American Cancer Society’s CEOs Against Cancer of Missouri, Greater St. Louis Executive Council, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Center of Creative Arts. Mackin holds a bachelor’s degree from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma

Jo Natauri is the Founder and Managing Partner of Invidia Capital Management. Natauri has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, holding roles of impressive responsibility at Goldman Sachs beginning in 2006 and culminating as Global Head of Healthcare Private Investing from May 2018 to December 2023. In her role as Global Head of Healthcare Private Investing, she was primarily responsible for sourcing and managing investments for Goldman Sachs within the healthcare sector both with respect to Goldman Sachs’ balance sheet and Goldman Sachs sponsored private equity funds West Street Capital Partners VI, West Street Capital Partners VIII and China-US Cooperation Fund. While at Goldman Sachs, Natauri also sourced and provided sector expertise and oversight for healthcare investments across other funds, including West Street Strategic Solutions Fund I, Goldman Sachs Strategic Growth Fund, and various private credit funds. Natauri served and voted on the following Investment Committees, each of which was responsible for managing and overseeing portfolio assets as well as making final investment decisions on behalf of particular funds managed by Goldman Sachs: Corporate Investment Committee, Life Sciences Investing Committee, Sustainable Investing Investment Committee, and Committee for One Million Black Women. Previous to her role as Global Head of Healthcare Private Investing, Natauri was a senior partner in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs, where she was Head of Healthcare Investment Banking Services. There, she advised on over $250 billion of M&A transactions and executed over 100 healthcare financing and strategic transactions across multiple subsectors in healthcare. In May 2023, Natauri was honored by the Red Door Community at their annual Celebrating Women Working & Living with Cancer Benefit Luncheon. She is a board member of Safe Horizon, a prominent non-profit organization that provides support for victims of violence and works to prevent crime and abuse and, in 2019, was presented with the Champion Award for her work with the organization. Natauri also sits on the Board of Trustees for the Ethical Culture Fieldston School and the College Foundation for the University of Virginia. Natauri earned her BA in Economics and Biology from the University of Virginia.

Mitesh S. Patel, MD, MBA is dedicated to transforming healthcare by driving innovation that improves clinical outcomes and enhances patient care. As a physician executive, he leads initiatives that integrate digital approaches and emerging technologies, with a focus on creating sustainable changes across health care organizations. With over a decade of experience leading multidisciplinary teams, he has driven the development and implementation of next-generation digital solutions, integrated clinical platforms, predictive and data-driven analytics, and AI-power innovations. These innovations have transformed patient care and operational processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across the organization while delivering measurable improvements in outcomes and cost-efficiency. As the Chief Clinical Transformation Officer at Ascension, Patel leads the strategic vision and operational execution of national programs to transform clinical care including programs that focus on patient engagement, enhancing clinician performance, improving population health, virtual care, remote patient monitoring and artificial intelligence. In addition to his role at Ascension, Patel is an Adjunct Professor at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he taught an MBA course on ‘The Digital Transformation of Health Care’ for over a decade. Before Ascension, he was a tenured professor at Penn Medicine, where he founded and led the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit, the world’s first behavioral design team embedded within the operations of a health system. In that role, Patel led the implementation of 100+ programs to enhance operations and improve outcomes among health care systems, insurers, biopharma and digital health companies across countries in 6 continents around the world. Patel is a regular keynote speaker and has been recognized with national awards from leading health care organizations. His research has been published in NEJM, JAMA, Nature, PNAS and other leading journals, and his work has been featured in major media outlets including The New York Times, CNN, and The Wall Street Journal.

Caroline Pearson is the Executive Director of the Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI), where she leads efforts to evaluate the clinical and economic impacts of digital health solutions. Caroline also serves as the Executive Director of the Peterson Center on Healthcare, where she leads initiatives and grantmaking to fulfill the Center’s mission to create a high performing health system that delivers better care at lower cost. Caroline is a nationally recognized healthcare expert, with a focus on healthcare technology, public and private insurance, state and federal health policy, prescription drugs, and aging issues. She was previously the Senior Vice President of Healthcare Strategy at NORC at the University of Chicago, a nonpartisan research organization, and an executive at the consulting firm Avalere Health. Caroline sits on the board of directors for a non-profit, provider-sponsored health plan in Ohio, and she is an elected member of the National Academy of Social Insurance. Caroline graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University with a B.A. in Government.

Jaewon Ryu, MD, JD, is the CEO of Risant Health, after having served as the President and CEO of Geisinger, its inaugural member organization. Risant Health is a nonprofit organization created by Kaiser Permanente to expand and accelerate the adoption and success of value-based care in diverse, multi-payer, multi-provider, health system environments across the country. By doing so, it seeks to improve the health of the communities it serves, achieve better health outcomes, and improve health care affordability. Ryu came to Geisinger in 2016 from Humana, where he was responsible for the company’s care delivery functions and capabilities, and previously, he held various leadership roles at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System, Kaiser Permanente, and in government at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and as a White House Fellow placed at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He started his career as a practicing corporate healthcare attorney. Ryu recently completed a full, two-term stint (2018-2024) on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), a body legislatively tasked with advising Congress on policies governing health plans and providers serving Medicare beneficiaries. Currently, he serves on the boards of various organizations, including the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the Commonwealth Fund, and the KP Medical Foundation. Ryu earned his B.A. from Yale University and his M.D. and J.D. from the University of Chicago. He completed his residency training in emergency medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Munjal Shah is the Co-founder and CEO of Hippocratic AI, a startup building the first safety-focused large language model (LLM) for healthcare. The company is on a mission to dramatically improve healthcare access, equity and outcomes through the use of generative AI. Shah is a serial entrepreneur, startup adviser, and investor. He was co-founder and CEO of an AI company that was acquired by Google and a marketplace management, research and analytics company eventually sold to Alibaba. He graduated from Stanford with a Masters in Computer Science, focused on AI. Prior to Hippocratic AI, Shah spent 10 years as co-founder and CEO of a healthcare startup leveraging AI to analyze health records to help seniors select the best Medicare Advantage plan.

Lee Shapiro is Co-founder and Managing Partner at 7WireVentures, a leading healthcare venture fund. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of Livongo Health [NASDAQ:LVGO] until November 2020. Previously he was President of Allscripts [NASDAQ:MDRX] from 2001 until the end of 2012. Prior to stepping in as CFO of Livongo and leading its 2019 IPO, Shpairo served on the board of the company since its launch, chaired the audit committee and as a member of its compensation committee. During his tenure as CFO, Livongo also had a successful secondary offering, raised $550M in convertible debt and entered into an agreement to merge at the highest valuation, $18.5B, of any healthcare technology company, based on revenue multiples. The price of $159 per share was over six times the price of Livongo’s shares at the time of its IPO, just 12 months earlier. Shapiro served on the boards of Clover Health [NASDAQ:CLOV], Senior Connect, a special purpose acquisition company [NASDAQ:SNRH], Medidata Solutions [NASDAQ:MDSO] until its sale in 2019 to Dassault Systemes, Tivity Health [NASDAQ:TVTY] until May, 2020 and Click Therapeutics. He also serves on the board and committees of various 7wireVentures portfolio companies. Shapiro is a co-founder and board member of The World Innovation Network, the advisory committee of the University of Chicago Innovation Fund Advisory Committee and has served on the Samsung Digital Health Advisory Board and Qualcomm Life Advisory Board. Based on his industry experience, Shapiro is a frequent speaker at widely attended industry conferences and is a published contributor to the Forbes Business Council. Shapiro practiced commercial law at Barack, Ferrazzano, Kirschbaum, Perlman and Nagelberg, a prominent Chicago law firm. He holds a JD degree from The University of Chicago Law School and a BS in Accounting from the University of Illinois. Shapiro and his wife, Valerie, have three wonderful grown children and reside in Sarasota, Florida.

Michael R. Vennera is Executive Vice President and the Chief Strategy, Technology and Operations Officer at Independence Health Group (Independence). Vennera has been with Independence for nearly 27 years. During that time, he has held several leadership roles in various areas, including informatics, information systems, operations, and innovation. He brings a rare blend of expertise in strategic planning and deep understanding of IT innovation and health plan operations. He has overseen numerous corporate initiatives. Those initiatives include launching new members, sales, and provider portals; increasing cybersecurity measures; developing new resources to better serve associates’ technology needs; and strengthening the company’s focus on equitable whole-person health by collecting and analyzing data to address algorithmic bias. In addition, Vennera has overseen a multi-year enterprise platform and operations transformation. Vennera has also been instrumental in many of Independence’s strategic initiatives. His achievements include launching a corporate innovation program, initiating and managing a strategic investment portfolio, and leading the development of the company’s long-term strategy. Vennera is a trustee of the Philadelphia Orchestra and serves on the Corporate Committee of the Franklin Institute Awards. He is active on the boards for Brighter Horizon, which supports first-generation college students and their families, and Fred’s Footsteps, which helps families by providing direct financial assistance for non-medical expenses. Vennera is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in information systems.

Julie Yoo is a General Partner on the Bio and Health team at Andreessen Horowitz, where she leads investments in companies that are transforming how we access, pay for, and experience healthcare. Her portfolio includes AKASA, Ambience, Bayesian Health, Bold Health, Firefly Health, Hippocratic AI, Marker Learning, Marley, Patina, Season Health, Sprinter Health, Thatch Health, Tomorrow Health, Topography, Turquoise Health and Zus Health. Prior to joining Andreessen Horowitz, Yoo was the cofounder and Chief Product Officer of Kyruus, a VC-backed healthtech company where she helped build and scale the business from 0 to 20M patients and over 225,000 healthcare providers across the US using their platform. Before that, Julie was VP of Product at Generation Health (acquired by CVS Health) and a Product Manager at Knome. Yoo's tech career began as an early member of the software engineering team at Endeca Technologies, which was acquired by Oracle. Yoo studied computer science and pre-medicine as an undergrad at MIT and obtained an MS in genomics from Harvard-MIT HST and an MBA from MIT Sloan. Yoo is a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum and has been recognized through numerous awards and honors from Midas Brink List, Becker’s Hospital Review, Health Data Management, MedTech Boston, and Rock Health.

Dan Anderson joined Consumer Access and Experience to lead development of the consumer insight function at St. Luke’s. He’s served in various roles at St. Luke’s over the course of the last 11 years, largely focused on facilitating development and refinement of St. Luke’s strategy and supporting plans. Before St. Luke’s, Anderson served in a variety of roles, from supporting the development of a new healthcare start-up organization, serving as an operations consultant for large health systems across the country, to engaging in Stem Cell biology research. Anderson holds a Master’s in Healthcare Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Washington, and has a BA in Chemistry from Pomona College. Outside of work, Anderson and his family are usually out adventuring in to new parts of Idaho and beyond, constantly on the look-out for what’s to be discovered next.

Christopher Risher is an accomplished leader in pharmacy benefit management and pharmacy payer relations, known for driving industry transformation and delivering measurable results. As the architect behind CVS CostVantage, Risher leads the organization’s shift to innovative pharmacy reimbursement models, partnering with health plans, PBMs, and pharmacy leaders to demonstrate the role of pharmacy as a solution for cost drivers in healthcare. With deep expertise spanning strategic negotiations, operational turnarounds, and value-based contracting, Risher has successfully advanced new value pools and integrated cross-functional teams to achieve financial growth, operational excellence, and high colleague engagement. His consultative approach and transparent leadership style have enabled the launch of industry-leading initiatives and the creation of solutions that meet the evolving needs of payers, plan sponsors, and patients. Risher is passionate about developing high-performing teams and fostering collaboration across the healthcare ecosystem. Outside of work, he is an avid triathlete, woodworker, and community volunteer.
