The Global Risks Report 2022 was published by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Marsh McLennan and prepared with the participation of Oliver Wyman experts. The central theme of GRR 2022 is “Worlds Apart”, mirroring the authors’ aim to capture how global divergence across multiple domains in the post-COVID-19 recovery threatens to widen disparities and aggravate societal fractures.
Explore key themes from this year’s edition
The 17th edition of the report unpacks some of the critical global tensions that may worsen the pandemic’s cascading impacts and complicate the coordination needed to tackle common challenges that include strengthening climate action, enhancing digital safety, restoring livelihoods and societal cohesion, and managing competition in space. It concludes with reflections on enhancing national and organizational resilience, informed by lessons from year two of the pandemic.
The four deep-dives of the report explore the risks and future implications of the key challenges identified after a careful analysis of over 950 responses to the annual Global Risk Perception Survey, which surveys risk experts in business, government, NGOs, international organizations, and academia across the world.
We expect to see 2022 as the year of transition plan when words and intentions will start to draw concrete decarbonization actions.Simon Cooper, Partner
