Healthcare - Consultant [mulitple locations]

Oliver Wyman is seeking top talent to join our Healthcare consulting practice. We have openings in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Washington, D.C., and will consider remote working arrangements. At Oliver Wyman, the work you do will have a real impact. We were responsible for the first two successful 1332 waiver applications under the ACA, and we continue to advise states and senior policymakers. As a Consultant, you would be expected to contribute to a broad range of assignments including Medicare Advantage (MA), commercial health insurance, and health policy arenas. Your primary duties would be supporting the Senior Consultants and Principals in project execution and delivery.

The work you would do could include the following:

  • Assist with ACA or MA bid preparation
  • Perform risk-adjustment studies
  • Modeling in support of policy studies (e.g., 1332 Waiver applications, changes to the Medicare Part D benefit)
  • Application of predictive analytics to underwriting processes
  • Preparing IBNR estimates and estimates of other actuarial liabilities
  • Work in support of our strategy consulting arm

Business development responsibilities would include the development and maintenance of our intellectual capital, including our consulting tools and datasets. You may be asked to contribute to blogs and whitepapers.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of meaningful actuarial work, and depending on experience, FSA or ASA
  • Subject matter expertise in either MA, or commercial markets would be plus but is not required
  • A track record of rapid learning, high performance, and professional growth
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, managing both up and down
  • Expertise in the MS Office suite of products, including proficiency in PowerPoint.

  • Work in support of our strategy consulting arm

Business development responsibilities would include help with the preparation of proposals and in preparing for sales meetings, and the development intellectual capital including blogs and whitepapers.

Requirements

  • FSA with 5+ years of professional expertise, or ASA with 10+ years of experience and subject matter expertise in key areas of client demand (.e.g., MA or ACA bid development)

Requirements

The Oliver Wyman office in Los Angeles, CA is currently seeking an entry-level actuarial analyst to support our growing property & casualty actuarial consulting practice. This position requires the candidate to work as part of a team of actuaries to independently analyze complex problems and develop workable solutions.  

Primary responsibilities include:

· Assist in actuarial studies including loss projections, accrual/reserve studies, risk retention analyses, and pricing of insurance coverages

· Compilation and verification of data

· Setting up spreadsheets

· Apply complex mathematical theories and principals to create statistical models

· Formulate exhibits and text to present findings in formal written reports

· Prepare marketing/sales/client presentations

· Assist in the preparation of proposals

Requirements/Qualifications
