Mark is a partner in the Insurance & Asset Management practice. As a senior executive leader, Mark has more than 25 years of experience in investment and corporate banking — with a focus on advising insurance and asset management clients globally. He has advised a broad range of public and private insurance companies, and private capital players. Mark specializes in corporate financial management, capital markets alternatives, and strategy development and execution.

In his career, Mark has worked at Citi, JPMorgan, Deutsche Bank, and Scotiabank with responsibilities for M&A and capital raise as well other products such as lending, treasury services, and cards.

I have worked broadly and intensively with senior financial services executives and teams on business development and analyzing competitive landscapes, balance sheet optimization, business line launch and growth, and asset valuation and monetization through M&A and public/private market structures.

During the pandemic, Mark served as a senior advisor to CEOs, business leaders, and corporate boards on capital management, investment strategies, and M&A. He also advised and mentored FinTech and InsurTech founders and entrepreneurs on market strategies and fundraising.

His global clients have included public and private corporations, private equity firms, FinTech startups, and hedge, pension, and sovereign wealth funds. Clients seek his expert counsel on corporate development and business strategy, capital markets and corporate finance, and communications with important constituencies, such as investors, rating agencies, and regulators.

Some of Mark’s most arduous yet rewarding career moments came during his investment banking career, when he was part of successful IPO and M&A projects. This gave him the opportunity to forge lasting relationships with clients that long outlived the specific M&A or IPO process, often creating invaluable friendships.

Truly transformative M&A — similar to an IPO — can effectively signify the “rebirth” of a company. It is hard to overstate the feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction had by all involved in these types of transactions.

Mark holds MBA, JD, and BA degrees from Harvard University. Outside of work, Mark was a Rotary Global Scholar in Madrid, a program to further international understanding and peaceful relations among diverse populations. He also ran the NYC Marathon, and is a graduate of the adventure-based education organization Colorado Outward Bound School, which emphasizes personal growth through challenge and experience. Mark often dedicates time to nonprofit organizations, especially in the areas of environment and education.
