Kara is a partner at Oliver Wyman Actuarial Consulting, based in our Chicago office.
She specializes in providing consulting services to health plans, providers, enablement companies, and regulatory agencies.
With more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Kara joined Oliver Wyman in January 2019. Throughout her career, she has held various roles in corporate, association, and consulting organizations.
At Oliver Wyman, Kara's primary focus has been supporting her clients in their journey towards value-based care. She has provided payers and providers with analytics to evaluate NewCo and multi-year partnership opportunities. Additionally, she has consulted with payers, providers, and enablement companies to assess the strategic and financial viability of the CMMI ACO REACH and Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organization models.

Kara has also served as the lead actuary for numerous functions related to launching new business segments. This includes market positioning, strategic pricing and rate building, network development support, and pro forma modeling. She has led pricing efforts for individual, small and large group markets, and has provided regulatory rate reviews for multiple states on an annual basis. Kara has also consulted with various Federal Employee Health Benefit Program plans on annual rate setting and long-term financial modeling and planning.
Kara holds an MBA in Health Industry Management and Management and Organizations from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She earned her BA in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Kara is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
In her spare time, Kara enjoys attending live music events, traveling, and doting on her rescue dog, Blu.
