Introducing the Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
Oliver Wyman joins a network of more than 1,100 corporate, government, and not-for-profit organizations in Australia that have made a formal commitment to reconciliation through the RAP program.
Since 2006, RAPs have provided a framework for organizations to leverage their structures and diverse spheres of influence to support the national reconciliation movement. The program’s potential for impact is greater than ever, with close to three million people now working or studying in an organization with a RAP.
The four RAP types — Reflect, Innovate, Stretch, and Elevate — allow RAP partners to continuously develop and strengthen reconciliation commitments in new ways.
Oliver Wyman’s RAP commitment
Oliver Wyman’s Reflect RAP will lay the foundations, priming the workplace for future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives.
This Reflect RAP also enables Oliver Wyman to deepen its understanding of its sphere of influence and the unique contribution it can make to lead progress across the five dimensions of reconciliation: race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity, and historical acceptance. Getting these first steps right will ensure the sustainability of future RAPs and reconciliation initiatives and provide a meaningful impact toward Australia’s reconciliation journey.
Oliver Wyman has established a RAP committee to oversee implementation of our commitments. We aim to do this in a transparent manner in collaboration with Reconciliation Australia, First Nations communities, and our numerous other stakeholders.
Caring for our communities by Thomas Croft
The digital illustration featured in the Oliver Wyman Australia Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan is by Thomas Croft, an Aboriginal artist from the Barngala clan of Whyalla in South Australia. Thomas lived in the Northern Territory for 26 years, which influenced his artwork greatly. Now residing in Newcastle, Thomas continues to be influenced by the cultures, environment, and the changing seasons of the Northern Territory landscape.
The painting ‘Caring for Communities,’ which features in the plan, represents the community coming together to build ongoing partnerships and relationships with individuals and families across the nation. This theme of connection is shared across all Marsh McLennan businesses, and a decision has been made to utilize this artwork across Marsh, Guy Carpenter, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman — reflecting the unity of our reconciliation message.
